Iphone + Itunes + Windows XP 64 = Hell!!!
The new Iphone 3gs came out Friday so naturally I had to go buy it. It’s been less than a year, since I picked up the original iphone, and I don’t know why but for some strange reason I thought it would be different or any easier this time around. HAH WRONG!!!!
The problems start and end with the fact that I’m using Windows Xp 64 bit. If you are using Xp 64 Bit you have two options you can either A. shoot yourself in the face for being a moron that uses it or B. buy a new computer. Ok ok there is a 3rd option which is waste an entire day figuring this shit out (I seriously think option A and B are better). So last year it took me a few hours to get itunes installed and working. I’ve since updated itunes and it’s worked flawlessly for the past year. I thought plugging the new iphone in would work like a charm lol I wish. My itunes all of a sudden wouldn’t recognize the iphone (the iphone would only show up as a camera). Anyhow it took me 5 fffff-in hours to get the damn thing working. I finally did and I’m so pissed and frustrated that I’ve decided to write this to hopefully save some other poor soul in the future (LOL truth is I’m writing this so next time this happens to me I can come here and remind myself of what to do).
Step 1. Go to http://yukichigai.googlepages.com/iphonex64 all steps, programs and info come from here.
Step 2. Uninstall Itunes, Apple Mobile Device Support and Quicktime.
Step 3. Install Quicktime
Step 4. go to http://www.oldapps.com/itunes.php and download the most recent 64 bit version. I used version 8.2.0.
Step 5. Follow the steps on http://yukichigai.googlepages.com/iphonex64
Step 6. Be sure to remove launch conditions on Apple Mobile Device Support and install that as well.
Step 7. (no joke) Cross fingers, cross legs, cross hairs, pray to your god or allah or higher being and HOPE it works.
What a waste of a day.
